11 березня 2026 року відбулося чергове засідання English Speaking Club для здобувачів. Модератором зустрічі була доцентка кафедри професійної та авіаційної мовної підготовки, доктор філософії Мартиненко Надія. Тема цього заходу “Do First Impressions Matter?” – Чи має значення перше враження? Метою заходу було розвиток навичок усного спілкування англійською мовою, формування вміння аргументувати власну думку та брати участь у дискусіях.

На початку зустрічі студенти обговорили значення поняття first impression та поділилися власним досвідом перших вражень у повсякденному житті: під час знайомства з новими людьми, на співбесідах, у навчальному середовищі. Після цього учасники виконали декілька вправ, під час яких відповідали на запитання та висловлювали свою думку щодо того, чи можна довіряти першому враженню.

Основною частиною заходу стала дискусія. Студенти працювали в парах та малих групах, обговорюючи різні ситуації, у яких перше враження може бути як правильним, так і помилковим. Учасники ділилися власним досвіду, аналізували поведінку людей, їхній зовнішній вигляд, мову тіла та манеру спілкування.

Також учасники взяли участь у рольовому моделюванні ситуації: студентам запропонували уявити ситуацію співбесіди при прийомі на роботу та визначити, які фактори впливають на перше враження (одяг, впевненість, мова, невербальна комунікація). Наприкінці зустрічі відбулося підбиття підсумків, під час якого студенти дійшли висновку, що перше враження дійсно відіграє важливу роль, однак воно не завжди є остаточним і може змінюватися з часом.

English Speaking Club пройшов у дружній та активній атмосфері, сприяв розвитку комунікативних навичок студентів і підвищенню їхньої мотивації до вивчення англійської мови.

On March 11, 2026, a meeting of the English Speaking Club was held for applicants. The moderator of the meeting was Associate Professor of the Department of Professional and Aviation Language Training, PhD, Martynenko Nadiia. The theme of this event was: "Do First Impressions Matter?". The aim of the meeting was to develop students’ speaking skills, encourage them to express their opinions in English, and improve their ability to participate in discussions.

At the beginning of the session, students discussed the meaning of the concept first impression and shared their personal experiences related to first impressions in everyday life, such as meeting new people, job interviews, or studying in a new environment. A short warm-up activity was organized where students answered questions and expressed their opinions about whether first impressions can be trusted.

The main part of the meeting included a discussion. Students worked in pairs and small groups, analyzing different situations where first impressions can be either accurate or misleading. Participants provided examples from their own experiences and discussed how factors such as appearance, body language, and communication style influence people’s first impressions.

An interactive task was also organized. Students imagined a job interview situation and discussed which factors could influence a positive first impression, including clothing, confidence, speech, and non-verbal communication.

At the end of the session, the results of the discussion were summarized. Students concluded that first impressions often play an important role, but they are not always final and may change over time.

The English Speaking Club was held in a friendly and engaging atmosphere and contributed to the development of students’ communicative competence and their motivation to learn English.
